College Football Best Bets on Memphis vs. Tulane in Week 14

Tulane has already clinched a berth in the American Conference Championship Game, but it has its eyes on an even bigger prize in the College Football Playoff.

The Green Wave are two wins away from completing the season at 11-2, but first they must deal with a potent Memphis offense that saw veteran quarterback Seth Henigan start his final regular season with the Tigers. After a dominant AAC run, how will Tulane fare against the best offense it has ever seen in league play?

Here are two player elements to target in this Thanksgiving matchup.

Seth Hengian More than 227.5 Passing Distances

Memphis’ passing game has been dominant all season long.

The team are throwing tons of balls under center with the senior averaging more than 38 pass attempts per game this season and a quick pace should provide him with plenty of volume to get past that target.

While the Green Wave maintain an elite statistical profile, some of that is also fueled by strength of schedule, as the team has faced two teams ranked in the top 90 in EPA/Play in AAC play this season in North Texas and Navy.

Navy is unique in its triple-option preparation, but North Texas runs a fast-paced blitz-like offense that has some similarities to the Tigers. In this match, the Mean Green scored 37 points with 449 passes.

I don’t believe the Tulane secondary is as elite as the numbers suggest, and this number is a must-bet for Hengian to move up the ranks.

Yulkeith Brown OVER 29.5 Reception Area

Brown, the Green Wave’s dynamic slot receiver, has seen up-and-down usage all season, but when you focus on the context of his targets, it’s clear this play is a good fit for him to continue.

First, Brown surpassed that mark in seven of 11 games, including games against Kansas State and Oklahoma, as well as the team’s two most competitive conference games against Rice and North Texas.

The Tigers’ defense can be shaky at times, near the national average in EPA/Pass and outside the top 100 in explosive pass defense, which could lead to a few big plays from Brown to overcome that low total.
