Man accused of stabbing 17-year-old Fleet Farm worker in neck – ABC 6 News

(KSTP) — A 31-year-old man has been charged in connection with a stabbing that occurred Sunday at a Fleet Farm in Carver.

Gerald Dwayne Hudson, of Kansas City, faces one count of first-degree assault and one count of second-degree assault. Records show a bail hearing for Hudson was held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, and his bail was set at $1 million.

As previously reportedCarver County deputies responded to a stabbing at Fleet Farm on Levin Griffin Road on Sunday afternoon.

Before authorities arrived at the scene, a report was issued that the suspect, identified as Hudson, had left the scene in a cream-colored SUV.

When deputies arrived on scene, they found a 17-year-old employee stabbed in the back of the neck. He had a 2- to 3-inch cut on his neck and had lost a lot of blood, according to the criminal complaint.

The victim is in critical but stable condition, according to court documents filed Tuesday morning.

A witness who was a customer at the store told police he heard screaming and the victim yelling “he stabbed me.” The witness also saw Hudson running away.

Surveillance video shows Hudson entering the store and walking down the aisle where the victim was located. She is then seen walking past him to the end of the corridor and looking back and forth before walking towards the victim.

Court documents state that Hudson is later seen on video making a striking gesture towards the victim while his back is turned towards her. The victim was then seen walking out of the corridor holding the back of his neck.

As of Tuesday morning, authorities had not found the assault weapon, the complaint states.

After his arrest, Hudson reportedly made unsolicited comments while in prison, such as: “I
“I didn’t stab anyone, I didn’t have a gun or anything, I just hit someone with something” and “There were no guns, knives, etc. around.” There was no lethal weapon. there was a stick or something like that, it was like a short conversation and I liked it so I hit him with a plastic thing.

Court documents state that Hudson told investigators he asked the victim where to find something in the store and “maybe he said something to me that didn’t feel right,” so he grabbed a “thing” and hit him. Hudson also asked the detective interviewing him if he was a homicide detective and if the victim was “dead.”

Hudson’s next hearing will be held on the morning of December 13.
