27-year-old man found dead in Talisay city

A 27-year-old man was found dead at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2024, in Purok Kawayan, Barangay Jaclupan, Talisay City, Cebu.

The victim was identified as Ramesis Gabutan alias Cocoy, a resident of Purok Avocado in the said barangay.

Gabutan was lying on the ground with bullet wounds in his chest and side of his body.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Epream Paguyod, chief of Talisay City Police Station, said an investigation is being conducted to identify those responsible for the crime.

Police received reports that Gabutan was a known thief in the area and had previously been arrested for illegal drugs and illegal gambling.

“We are currently detecting the criminal elements of kung ano man yung mga,” Paguyod said.

(We are currently identifying the causes of the crime and determining the elements of the crime).

The victim’s mother, Anecita Gabutan, is seeking justice for her son’s death.

He stated that if his son had really committed a crime, he should not have been killed and sent back to prison.

“Ginoo ko, Tabangi ko.. mangayo gyud kog hustisya sa akong anak nganong gipatay. Kon nakasala adam, ngano adam patyon adam, iya lang ta to gipa priso. Ngano’ng road nakahibalo dinhi nga naa adam diha daghang friend dire,” Anecita in question.

(God help me… I wish justice for my son. If he did something wrong, why would they kill him? He should have been imprisoned. Why didn’t anyone know about it when he had so many friends here?).

The grieving mother expressed disappointment that none of her neighbors came to testify. (EIB, TPT)
