Former Kewaskum police officer sentenced to 2 years in prison for bestiality

FOND DU LAC COUNTY (NBC 26) — A Fond du Lac County judge on Tuesday ordered former Kewaskum police officer Steven Rosales to be sentenced to two years in prison followed by another year of supervised release on bestiality charges.

A word of caution: The details in this case are disturbing.

Rosales had previously pleaded guilty to bestiality multiple times for having sex with his dog.

He was also accused of sending photos and messages of sexual acts to another person, but those charges were dropped.

The state recommended five years in prison and nine years of supervised release.

“There is no excuse, no explanation, and no public acceptance of the defendant’s criminal behavior,” Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney said in court Tuesday. he said.

Rosales said he struggled with sex addiction and received treatment while in prison. His lawyer requested one year probation.

“I look at you and I literally say, ‘I’m not the same person I used to be,'” Rosales said. he said. “I discovered a lot about myself. My priorities were wrong.”

The judge ordered Rosales to be sentenced to two years in prison and one year of supervised release concurrently, but that will run consecutively to any additional sentences he may face for other crimes.

Rosales is also charged with sexual assault in Washington County.

Prosecutors say he had an inappropriate relationship with a student at the high school where he worked as a school resource officer.

Rosales is scheduled for a plea and sentencing hearing in the Washington County case on Jan. 31.
