Man charged after breaking into woman’s home in Oconee Co.

WALHALLA, SC (FOX Carolina) – A man was charged with first-degree burglary Monday, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to the sheriff’s office, an officer was called to an address on Haddington Way near W. Cherry Road on Saturday, Nov. 23, regarding a theft.

When the officer arrived, he spoke with a woman who said someone had broken into the home and her room.

During the investigation, the deputy observed blood in the victim’s room and damage to items in the room. Deputies said they also noticed a picture frame and a broken perfume bottle that Redmond broke, causing injuries to his hands.

The suspect was later identified as 21-year-old Robert Sawyer Redmond. He was also charged with intentional damage to property.

He was arrested during a traffic stop on Monday, November 25, and taken into custody on $27,205 bail at around 2:39 p.m. He was released after paying bail on Tuesday, November 26.
