Karnataka High Court Orders Release of Union Minister Prahlad Joshi’s Brother and Nephew Arrested in Cheating Case

The Karnataka High Court has ordered the release of Union Minister Prahlad Joshi’s brother and nephew, who were arrested in a cheating case for allegedly promising election tickets to certain people for Rs 2.5 billion.

The complainants had alleged that the accused promised them election tickets using the Union Minister’s office in exchange for some money.

“He acted as if the Union Minister had given him permission and then he would secure the seat.” It was claimed.

Those who have petitioned before appealed to the Supreme Court It is requested that the case filed against them under various sections of BNS be annulled.

They are s 126(2), (unfair restraint) 115(2) and 118(1) (voluntarily causing injury or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) 118(1), 316(2), (breach of trust) 318 (4), (cheating) 61, (criminal conspiracy) 3(5) (common intention) and sections 3(1)(r), (s) (defamation and abuse of Public opinion) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 3(2)(va) (schedule offences) and 3(2)(va) (schedule offences).
