The case was heard in the District Court in Modimolle on Thursday, November 14. The sentence was imposed following the rape of a 13-year-old girl in Phagameng in Modimolle police district.

This incident happened on March 4, 2023. The victim was sent by her aunt to her uncle’s house in the same area. When they got home, the uncle took advantage of the child.

Her uncle threatened her and forced her into the bedroom, where he eventually raped her.

The matter was later reported to the police and the suspect was arrested by the SAPS. The case was handed over to Warrant Officer Frances Kruger of Modimolle Domestic Violence, Children’s Branch.
