5 Women Grazing Cattle Killed After Car Hit Them Near Chennai

Five elderly women died when they were hit by a speeding car near a highway near Mamallapuram in Tamil Nadu, about 56 kilometers from the state capital Chennai. At the time of the accident, women, all over the age of 65, were grazing their cattle.

The car, containing four college students, was heading towards Mamallapuram when the accident occurred. The car belonged to the parents of one of them.

After the accident, the public gathered at the scene, caught two students, beat them and showed visuals.

Two of the four students have been arrested, and police are looking for the other two. A senior police officer told NDTV that the driver of the vehicle had a valid licence, but it is being investigated whether he was under the influence when he lost control.
