Teenager died, 2 others injured in shooting at Halloween party

AKRON, Ohio (wow/Gray News) – A teenager was killed and two others were injured in a shooting at a Halloween party in Ohio on Saturday night.

According to a statement from Akron Police, officers responded to a shooting at a Halloween party at a house in the 100 block of Paris Boulevard around 10:46 p.m.

Officers arrived to find an 18-year-old girl critically injured with an apparent gunshot wound.

It was stated that a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police said the duo fled the scene after the shooting.

According to the police, the young people are expected to recover, but the 18-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The names of the victims are being withheld pending further investigation.

According to preliminary investigation, during the Halloween party, an unidentified person pulled out a gun and shot at young people inside the house.

Officers detained an 18-year-old man after a short chase and recovered the gun he threw while running from police.

However, it is currently unknown what role the man played in the shooting. Detectives are continuing their efforts to determine who the shooter was.

Police charged the man with carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing official business. Officers transported him to the Summit County Jail, where he was booked, according to the release.
