Did RFK Jr claim that heroin made him an A-lister? Here is the real truth
In a podcast released in July, RFK Jr talked about how he struggled with drug addiction for 15 years.

An old video of Donald Trump’s health secretary candidate RFK Jr. saying that he became the best in his class after he started using heroin has resurfaced and gone viral. This was during his appearance on the Shawn Ryan podcast in July when he was running for president as an independent. “I was at the bottom of my class. I started using heroin and rose to the top of my class. Suddenly I could sit still, read and concentrate. I could listen to what people were saying.” Kennedy Jr. in question.
It was the same interview in which Kennedy revealed that he first tried LSD when he was 15; the summer his father, Robert F. Kennedy Sr., was assassinated. After LSD, he tried heroin and cocaine and only got sober after 14 years. But he wasn’t promoting the drug in the interview; He was describing how drugs had undermined his life and destroyed his relationships. He said the only good thing the drugs did was make him a star student. “My mind was so restless and turbulent that I couldn’t sit still,” he said.

“I would probably be diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder) today. “I was jumping off the walls,” he added. “So, you know, I was probably self-medicating on some level.”
He said his family had no idea he was using drugs; He wrote books and went to law school while using heroin. He was arrested for heroin possession in 1983, he said. That’s when he was able to “get sober” after years of constantly trying to quit.
“For me, the most demoralizing feature of this disease was my inability to fulfill contracts with myself. At 9:00 in the morning I would tell myself I would never do this again. I would believe this. I’m serious,” Kennedy Jr. said, explaining his addiction. “At 4 o’clock in the afternoon, it was like I had no control over that person that I was going to be at 4:00, you know, that’s when the addict would kick in. Take my head and take control.
Experts think Kennedy Jr., as health secretary, will reduce prescription drugs and increase access to weed and psychedelics. He took a strong stance against the viral weight-loss drug Ozempic, saying Americans should focus on good food, three meals a day, and solve the obesity and diabetes epidemic.
