A 22-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly posed as a rideshare driver in a series of violent sexual assaults, Peel police said.

Police allege the defendant targeted South Asian women in their early 20s in three separate attacks in Brampton, Ontario, earlier this month.

Police said all three women were at bus stops when a suspect posing as a rideshare driver offered them a ride.

Police allege the women were taken to different areas and sexually assaulted.

Police say they have arrested a 22-year-old international student from Brampton and faces charges including kidnapping, sexual assault with a weapon and strangulation.

Investigators said the defendant had no connection to the rideshare operators.
