Farmer Got an Electrocution, Burned More than 60% of His Body and Lost an Arm

A teenager who died of a near-fatal electrocution while farming that left him with severe burns and the loss of an arm is recovering at a Dallas hospital.

Braycin Parrish, 17, of Hamilton, Texas, was harvesting peanuts on Oct. 2 when the car on his tractor hit a power line. CBS affiliate KWTX reported. Parrish was shocked and his body was burning.

“Braycin died in that peanut field after receiving 69kv into his body through the operation of 2 transmission lines passing through him. His boss saved his life with heart massage!” Braycin’s uncle, Michael Batson, shared a post on October 11 Facebook mail, Bradenton Herald reported.

Braycin’s father, Blain Parrish, recalled the harrowing moment to KWTX. “He was dead. For how many minutes? Only God knows,” he told the outlet.

Bracyin’s great-grandfather, Bryan Parrish, wrote on October 8: Facebook post It was stated that the 17-year-old boy was taken to Parkland Hospital in Dallas after he was brought back to life with CPR.

“On the way to the hospital, the family received word to prepare for the possible amputation of Braycin’s left arm,” Bryan recounted. “The first miracle God performed was saving Braycin’s life. Upon arriving in Parkland, Braycin immediately underwent surgery to restore blood circulation in his arm. Circulation returned to normal, but the arm and shoulder were so severely damaged that they could not be saved.”

“He’s lost an arm, his toes, and a lot of skin, and we’re not even sure he’s finished yet,” Batson wrote at the time. “The amount of pain this young man is experiencing is absolutely unreal. But guess what he’s going through.”

In an interview with KWTX from his hospital bed on Monday, Nov. 25, Braycin said farming has been a way of life for him since a very young age.

“I don’t know any other way about it,” Braycin said. “I don’t want to wake up every day and play football. I don’t foresee this being fun at all. In my opinion, I see working, earning money and being ahead as a means to become better.”

Braycin recalled that fateful October day when he came into contact with a power line while on his tractor unloading its contents into a semitrailer.

“I went to throw it away and the car caught fire and set the tires on fire as well,” Braycin told KWTX. So I went out and I was going to take the car off the tractor, the car was under electricity and I touched it and so it lit me up.

KWTX also reported that when Braycin was taken to the hospital, more than 60 percent of his body was burned and his arm was severely damaged. He added that Braycin woke up a few days later and learned the extent of his injuries. Eventually his arm was amputated.

“It definitely hurt my heart… It really destroyed me about what I wanted to do,” Braycin reflected.

Braycin made progress during his surgeries, including the ability to walk through hospital corridors. tiktok Posted by his father on November 7.

According to KTWX, doctors said that Braycin was recovering rapidly, and Braycin, who was expected to be released from the hospital on Friday, November 29, said that he hoped to return to his tractor.

“God was there watching me,” he told the station. “If it weren’t for that, I think I would be worse off if it wasn’t for God.”

Batson described Braycin as a hero. “If you can show me a scientific reason why it’s still with us, I’d love to see it,” he wrote in a Facebook post. “The only reason he is with us is because THE LORD ABOVE!!”

“Braycin is and will remain the strongest man I know,” Batson added.
