Inmate who pleaded guilty in Johnstown shooting and crash sentenced to prison

A county inmate convicted of killing a Johnstown man in 2022 will remain behind bars for several more years, Cambria County officials said.

Authorities say Gary Hill faces 8 1/2 to 22 years in prison for the shooting death of 42-year-old Timothy Harrison.

Hill appeared in court at the beginning of this month where he pleaded guilty to one charge of third-degree murder.

Police say Hill shot Harrison while he was driving in February 2022 on Park Ave in the city’s Moxham area. He said that it caused him to have an accident throughout the day.

Investigators later learned the shooting was the result of a drug deal gone wrong.

County Attorney Greg Neugebauer said Hill will serve the sentence consecutively to another Robbery sentence for which he is currently serving at SCI Houtzdale.
