Two people were stabbed in an unprovoked attack at Polo Park mall, Winnipeg police say

Two men in their 40s were injured in an unprovoked stabbing at the Polo Park shopping center on Tuesday, Winnipeg police said.

The victims, ages 46 and 48, were found to have upper-body injuries around 3:50 p.m. and were taken to hospital in stable condition, the Winnipeg Police Service said.

Police said a suspect was restrained by mall security personnel; Police said two knives were seized.

Investigators allege the suspect pulled out a knife when he approached and confronted two victims sitting on a bench at the mall.

After the stabbing, the victims managed to subdue the suspect with the help of security personnel until police arrived, police said.

A 20-year-old man from Winnipeg has been charged with two counts of assault, possession of a weapon and two counts of failing to comply with the conditions of a release order.
