All charges against former Regina high school teacher for sex offenses dismissed

Former Regina high school teacher Jefferey Dumba has been found not guilty of sexually assaulting a student.

The decision came Tuesday in Regina’s Court of King’s Bench.

Dumba was initially charged with enticement, sexual exploitation and making sexually explicit material available to a child.

It was stated that the incidents occurred between June 23, 2021 and September 2, 2021. It’s about a girl who was 15 at the time.

In his ruling, Judge Neil Robertson said Dumba had taken reasonable steps to establish or ascertain whether the girl was an adult and that he reasonably believed she was an adult before engaging in “sexual communication” and exchanging sexual images.

The Regina Police Service said Dumba was charged following an investigation into what was described as sexually explicit “social media communication” with a female teenager in 2021.

Police did not disclose which school the incident took place.

“I am also pleased that, after learning the complainant’s true age, the defendant told the complainant that she needed to cease sexual contact and deleted the woman’s images from his devices,” Robertson wrote.

“While it is possible that the defendant continued sexual communications after learning her age or did not immediately delete the child pornography images, I have a reasonable doubt on all the evidence that this occurred.”

Robertson said that given his findings he denies all accusations.
