During legal proceedings, McGregor claimed that the pair had “consensual sex” on the night in question, stating that he never forced the woman to do anything against her will.

Local police had previously investigated the woman’s complaint but the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in Dublin refused to prosecute McGregor, citing insufficient evidence for a criminal case.

The 36-year-old was ordered to pay more than $250,000 to his accuser as part of the civil lawsuit.
