Man arrested for murdering his friend with whom he lived

Pune: Wakad police arrested a man for killing his live-in partner and dumping her body in Khambatki Ghat.

The accused has been identified as Dinesh Popat Thombre, 32, of Kurunj in Maval, who killed his live-in partner Jayashree Vinay More (27) of Marunji-Hinjewadi. The private firm employee had been staying with Jayashree and her sons since the last four-five years. Jayashree had left her husband before living with Dinesh, who later became suspicious of his fidelity.

Following a dispute between the couple on the service road near Hotel Jinger Bhamkar Chowk around 10 pm on November 24, Dinesh hit Jayashree on the head with a hammer and she died of injuries. Later, the accused dumped the body at Khambatki Ghat in Satara. The next day, she abandoned her three-year-old sons in Alandi and on November 26, she lodged Jayashree’s missing complaint at Wakad police station.

Police received information about the body found at Khambatki Ghat and detained Dinesh for investigation, who confessed to killing his live-in partner and leaving his son in Alandi, who was later found.
