Three people injured in house fire in Lafayette

Three people were injured in a house fire in Lafayette on Friday.

The Lafayette Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 300 block of Anne Street around noon after receiving multiple calls about a house on fire with possible victims inside, according to a department spokesman.

When firefighters arrived on scene, the single-family residence was completely unusable. The fire quickly spread to the house next door. While firefighters began their search, an old woman and her niece came out of the back door. Fire crews gave them first medical aid until Akad Ambulance arrived at the scene. The two people were later transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation and further evaluation, the spokesperson said.

There was severe fire damage to the house. The heat released by the fire ignited the house next door. The neighbor’s house was also damaged in the fire.

Many fire brigades were dispatched to the scene and provided assistance. One firefighter was slightly injured during the efforts to extinguish the fire. He was also transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
