Manitoba news: Ottawa, Manitoba invests in building zero-emission buses

The federal and provincial governments are investing in a facility in Winnipeg to help build zero-emission buses in Canada.

Prime Minister Wab Kinew, together with federal Northern Affairs Minister Dan Vandal, announced a total investment of $38.4 million in New Flyer; Of this, $23.4 million will come from the province and $15 million will come from Ottawa.

The investment will be used to expand New Flyer’s production capacity and create 250 direct and hundreds of indirect jobs in Winnipeg, according to a news release.

The Prime Minister said that construction will start in 2024 and is expected to be completed in 2025.
