2024 Presidential Election: Vice President Kamala Harris arrives in Houston ahead of her rally with Beyoncé on Friday

2024 Presidential Election: Vice President Kamala Harris arrives in Houston ahead of her rally with Beyoncé on Friday

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Shell Energy Stadium can seat up to 28,000 people and we expect that number for Friday’s rally.

People have been lining up since before sunrise for a chance to be in the stadium for the event, which will feature Vice President Kamala Harris, Beyonce, her mother Tina and Willie Nelson.

Both presidential candidates will visit the Lone Star State on Friday. Campaign events this close to the election are rare in Texas, as Texas is not considered a battleground state.

Also on stage tonight are Texans who say the state’s restrictive abortion law has negatively impacted their lives. And that issue, women’s reproductive rights, is why Harris is here tonight rather than in one of the seven swing states.

Vice President Harris arrived in Houston overnight.

Former President Donald Trump is also campaigning in Texas on Friday. He planned visits to Austin.

It’s not unusual for presidential candidates to make a stop in Texas, but it’s rare for both candidates to take the stage this close to Election Day.

Texas is not considered a battleground state, which makes these visits particularly interesting.

Typically you’ll see these types of last-minute campaigns in swing states like Pennsylvania or Arizona.

Harris will be in Houston on Friday, but her campaign has not publicly announced where or when the rally will be held. Fans who signed up for tickets were sent emails stating that the rally would be held at the Houston Dynamo’s Shell Energy Stadium. Doors open at 15.00

Houstonians should be prepared for road closures and traffic in downtown Houston. Security is expected to be on high alert, so you may notice an increased police presence.

Harris will be accompanied by Democratic Senate candidate Collin Allred.

According to local news, Trump will campaign in Austin alongside Allred’s opponent, Sen. Ted Cruz.

Trump will also be interviewed on the popular podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience.”

As for previous last-minute presidential campaigns in Texas, George W. Bush visited Dallas the night before the 2004 election, and Bill Clinton visited the Lone Star State just six days before the 1992 election.

Election Day 2024 is on November 5th. Early voting is already underway in Texas and ends November 1.
