POWELL, Tenn.(WVLT/Gray News) – A 15-year-old boy has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 13-year-old girl whose body was found on a road in Tennessee.

The victim’s body was found Tuesday afternoon on a road in the Broadacres subdivision of Powell, just outside Knoxville, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office said.

The victim’s identity has not been publicly disclosed.

According to court records, the young girl was stabbed multiple times with a pocket knife.

Records show investigators believe the suspect and the victim met shortly after midnight Tuesday.

“During the interaction, the defendant used a pocket knife he was carrying with him to stab the victim multiple times, killing him,” court documents said. The statement was included. “He left her there without telling anyone and she was later discovered dead by citizens later in the day.”

The 15-year-old boy was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Authorities did not say how the two knew each other or how they identified the boy as a suspect.
