Anil Kumble reveals how Rohit Sharma was tackled by Mitchell Santner

Legendary Indian wrist spinner Anil Kumble revealed how New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner bowled over India captain Rohit Sharma on Day 3 of the second Test at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Rohit, in particular, was caught at short leg by Will Young as he danced down the track and got an inside edge on his pads.

As a result, the Indian skipper won both the Test innings and Dismissal for only 8 (16) left India on 34/1. Following his dismissal, Kumble went into detail about how he planned to dismiss Santner and the India captaincy, and explained how Santner’s late release helped him get rid of Rohit.

“He played the reverse sweep and he was out. “He used all the options, unfortunately Santner realized it early and then bowled it a little shorter and then the ball bounced to Rohit Sharma,” said Sports18’s Kumble.

“I thought his intentions were right but of course it was very well received by Santner. We have to give credit to Santner too because he saw it coming. “The only advantage Santner has is that he releases the ball very late and that probably helped him see Rohit coming towards him and dropping the length a bit,” he added.

Yashasvi Jaiswal continues her attack after losing Rohit

After losing Rohit early, his partner Yashasvi Jaiswal continued her attack and quickly managed to hit boundaries. He was well supported by Shubman Gill, who made a flying start to his innings with the help of four boundaries. The duo added 62 runs for the second wicket as India went into lunch at 81/1 after 12 overs.
