At least one person was killed and several injured in a Russian drone attack on a residential building in Kiev

At least one person was reportedly killed and five others injured when a Russian drone crashed into a 25-storey residential building in Kiev on Friday night.

Emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene of the attack to intervene in the fire that broke out on the upper floor of the building due to the strike.

According to Kiev Major Vitali Klitschko, the fire was extinguished but the search and rescue operation continued.

Ukrainian Emergency Service said that the attack damaged many apartments in the building and about 100 people were evacuated after the drone hit.

Before the attack, an air alert had been issued in Kiev and other parts of Ukraine for a mass Russian drone strike, according to local media reports; This attack was an almost daily occurrence in Ukraine for more than a month.

Air defense units were reportedly deployed during the hour-long air raid alert.
