Kevin Durant explained the reasons why the Suns lost to the Lakers

The Phoenix Suns lost 123-116 to the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night. Phoenix was ahead by 22 points at one point in the game. However, the Lakers’ second-half surge overtook their lead, allowing the Suns to start the season with a 1-1 record.

Speaking to the media after the game, Kevin Durant identified two reasons why his team let go: He cited fouling and inability to take care of the ball as reasons why the Lakers found a way back into the game.

“We gave them momentum more than anything in the second and third quarter,” Durant said. “…They did a good job of getting into the paint, stopping the clock with free throws… I think we fouled them a few times… We’ve got to do a better job of not fouling. Then we turned the ball over a lot in the second quarter, gave them momentum.” .”
