Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announces reports on removal of vacant government posts

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday clarified the notification regarding removal of vacancies. He stated that the state positions that have not been filled for the last 20 years have not been abolished, but have been redesigned according to current needs.

Sukhu rejected social media allegations about the removal of some posts, calling them “part of baseless and false propaganda”. He accused the BJP of reacting without full information and added that these posts would actually be converted into other useful roles.

Leader of Opposition in Himachal Pradesh Jai Ram Thakur alleged that the state government is eliminating posts like junior assistants, sub-divisional officers and executive engineers in the garb of cost cutting. Sukhu claimed that while positions such as typists had become obsolete, the government was reallocating resources to create more relevant positions, including nurses and mining officers.

Reaffirming his government’s commitment to providing jobs to unemployed youth, Sukhu announced that 19,000 positions will be filled by December 11, when the government completes its two years in office.

Sukhu also alleged that former Prime Minister Thakur, whose government provided employment to only 20,000 people in five years, was making fake propaganda to mislead the public. “His (Thakur’s) government has provided only 20,000 jobs in five years. The BJP is making false allegations through “gossip and whisper campaigns” to create the impression that something is wrong,” Sukhu said. he said.
