Worker died in road construction

A worker was killed on the job in Stony Plain on Tuesday.

Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) said the person became trapped in a piece of equipment in road construction.

This was the second workplace fatality in the Edmonton region in two days.

On Monday, OHS said a person at an equipment supply company was struck by equipment and died.

OHS will not be releasing details about either death as they are currently under investigation.

According to the Alberta Association of Provincial Employees (AUPE), 165 Albertans died at work or as a result of their work in 2023.
