Man arrested after stabbing at Altoona home following property dispute

A man is in custody after police say he stabbed another man in the leg and attacked a woman at a home in the 1500 block of 3rd Street in Altoona Friday evening.

According to an Altoona Police Department Facebook post, officers were dispatched to the home on a report of a stabbing just after 6:15 p.m.

Police said officers found a male victim with a stab wound to the leg near the intersection of 3rd Street and Walnut Avenue, and that victim was taken to UPMC Altoona for treatment.

Officers said they contacted a female victim at the residence who advised that a man, identified as Christopher Thomas, had come to the home to speak to her regarding a property exchange shortly before calling 911.

After a brief conversation at the front door, Thomas entered the residence and began punching the female victim multiple times in the face, according to police.

Thomas then walked up to the male victim, who was sitting in a chair in another room, and began striking him in the face multiple times, then pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the leg before fleeing his home, the Altoona Police Department said.

Police said in the post that they later determined Thomas was staying at a halfway house in the Coalport area of ​​Clearfield County and was taken into custody early Saturday morning.

The Blair County Sheriff’s Department, Logan County Police Department and Pennsylvania State Police also assisted in the investigation, according to police.

Thomas faces several charges, including aggravated assault and possession of criminal instruments.

He was incarcerated in the Blair County Jail on $150,000 bail.
