Multiple charges filed against women accused of string of fragrance thefts

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Two women are facing multiple charges following a series of thefts at Bath & Body Works locations in the Kansas City area.

Platte County, Missouri, Circuit Court Records show Kaylan M. Coppage, 24, of Kansas City, was charged in connection with a series of thefts from Bath & Body Works locations in the metro area on Monday, Oct. 21.

Court documents show Coppage first Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department After being spotted at Bath & Body Works at Legends Outlet in early September. He was with another suspect, Alishia Baker-Jefferson, 22, who managed to escape from Kansas City, Kansas, at the time.

Surveillance footage revealed Coppage and Baker-Jefferson committing multiple burglaries together in that area. Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department An investigation was launched into the theft ring.

During an interview with investigators, Coppage admitted to five thefts totaling approximately $7,500 at two separate Bath & Body Works locations. However, security cameras also revealed that he was also able to connect her to three additional thefts, bringing the total to nearly $12,000.

A warrant was issued for Coppage’s arrest Monday, with bail set at $10,000. Baker-Jefferson was arrested in mid-September on a $50,000 bond set. As of Saturday, Coppage does not appear to be behind bars following his release from the Wyandotte County, Kansas Jail. Baker-Jefferson also does not appear to be behind bars.

A hearing in the Coppage case has not yet been set, but Baker-Jefferson is expected to appear before a judge at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29.
