Kano: There are women among the 44 elected LG chairmen as the commission issues certificates

The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has presented Certificates of Return to the winners of Saturday’s local government elections.

KANSIEC president Professor Sani Malumfashi presented certificates to the 44 elected council presidents.

Among those elected as the president of the council is a young woman named Sa’adatu Yushau Tudunwada. He was elected Chairman of Tudunwada LGA.

“Today’s issuance of Return Certificates marked the end of our mandate, which we carried out diligently and in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of the land,” said the KANSIEC chairman.

Speaking to journalists, Tudunwada vowed to ensure equality to people in the local government area irrespective of party affiliation.

Newly elected Chairman of Fagge LGA, Salisu Masu, has expressed concerns that the council is facing a revenue crunch due to leaks.

He said: “I will do my best to prevent leakages and increase revenue generation because right now, based on the information I have received, our Federal Government subsidy is not even enough to pay salaries until the state government strengthens the US?”
