Wem man jailed for ‘appalling’ domestic violence

A man has been jailed for two-and-a-half years after admitting a string of domestic violence charges.

Phillip Mutch, 40, of Orchard Way, Wem, Shropshire, pleaded guilty to one count of controlling and coercive behavior and five counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was also made subject to an indefinite restraining order, preventing him from contacting his victim.

Det Con Geoff Anslow, of West Mercia Police, said: “Philip Mutch is a dangerous individual. He subjected a very vulnerable victim to a horrific campaign of domestic violence and abuse behind closed doors.”
