Visakhapatnam MP says collective action is needed to tackle online crimes against women

Visakhapatnam MP and GITAM University president M. Sribharath, while inaugurating the ‘Women and Technology (WAT)’ conference jointly organized by the University Women Empowerment Cell and GITAM, considered a Techmantric IT Solutions company, emphasized the need for collective action to address online crimes against women. Here on Monday. She added that it can empower women to stay safe online by promoting digital literacy, self-confidence and community building.

Visakhapatnam City Police Commissioner Sankhabrata Bagchi has warned citizens about the increasing threat of cybercrime, especially targeting youths, single women and unemployed youths. The Police Commissioner emphasized the importance of being careful when sharing personal information on social media platforms.

He emphasized the need for awareness regarding cyber scams that can be carried out through unknown callers and urged citizens to be careful and not share personal information, passwords or OTPs with unknown people.

GITAM EECE faculty member Dr. Rajesh said it is very important to understand the user manual of smart devices to avoid online scams.

O. Naresh Kumar, CEO of Symbiosis Technologies, advised that young people should learn about cyber security issues and create a good community with strong mental abilities.
