Central Park attempted rape: Suspect wanted for assaulting and sexually assaulting woman in Manhattan, NYC

CENTRAL PARK, Manhattan (WABC) — Police are searching for a man accused of assaulting and attempting to sexually assault a woman in Central Park.

The attack happened around 5:10 a.m. Saturday near 85 East Drive.

The suspect approached the 38-year-old woman, pushed her over a metal fence and punched her in the face multiple times before attempting to rape her, according to the NYPD.

Officers said the suspect then left the park on a bicycle and fled northbound on 5th Avenue.

First responders transported the injured person to a hospital in the area. His condition is stable.
