Four Albertans charged following murder investigation

Following an investigation, four Albertans have been charged in connection with the murder of a Manning, Alberta man.

On May 25, Fairview RCMP received a report that four bear hunters had found a body in a remote area.

Officers from the RCMP’s major crimes unit, working alongside Fairview RCMP members, began an investigation.

Following the autopsy performed on May 27, the cause of death was announced as murder.

The person who died on May 28 was identified as 54-year-old Manning, Alta. Resident Wilfred Rever.

Following an investigation on October 23 and October 24, four people were charged in connection with Rever’s murder.

Christopher Valin, 32, of Berwyn, Alta., was charged with second-degree murder.

Manning resident Brooke Burton, 44, was charged with desecrating a corpse following the murder.

Glenn Whitney, 57, of Fairview, Alta., was charged with desecration of a corpse following the murder.

Guy Valin, 57, of Berwyn, Alta., was charged with desecration of a corpse following the murder.

After their procedures at the police station, 4 people were arrested and sent to prison. They are scheduled to appear in court via CCTV in Peace River on October 28.

Fairview is located 115 kilometers north of Grande Prairie, Alberta.
