Man who fought with off-duty MP arrested in Sky Zone

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – An 18-year-old man from Evansville was taken into custody after causing a disturbance at Sky Zone on Saturday night.

Officers responded to the business around 7:15 p.m. after receiving a 911 call of what appeared to be a struggle and lots of yelling.

Police arrived and identified the suspect, Troy D. Davis Jr. He found a large crowd recording on their mobile phones an argument between him and an off-duty MP outside.

Davis was captured by EPD officers and placed in the back of a police car.

The off-duty deputy told police that Davis appeared agitated when he entered the SkyZone.

The deputy said Davis approached the front counter and yelled at an employee, who waved his hand at the deputy.

The employee told Davis he was no longer allowed on the property and needed to leave, according to an affidavit.

EPD said Davis threatened to “explode” at the deputy if he touched him after he was asked to leave.

The deputy told police that as Davis was leaving, he returned and appeared to attack the employee.

Authorities say this happened when the deputy grabbed Davis, Davis hit the deputy with a closed fist, and they both fell to the ground.

Police said the deputy gained control of Davis and held him down until other officers arrived.

SkyZone’s manager told officers he believed the suspect was drunk because he could smell “booze” coming from him.

During a jailhouse interview, Davis told officers he pushed the “old man” after he put his hands on him.

The suspect told police he did not remember hitting the deputy or the deputy hitting him.

According to police, Davis admitted to drinking four to five sips of Old Crow bourbon.

Troy D. Davis Jr. He was arrested and faces charges of Public Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Law Enforcement, Trespassing, Battery on a Public Safety Officer, and Possession of Alcohol by a Minor.
