Jets score TD, still trail 7-6 after missed extra point

The Jets offense found its way into the end zone late in the first quarter of Sunday’s game at New England, but they still trailed the Patriots.

Greg Zuerlein missed the extra point in left field and the Patriots still led 7-6 as a result. Zuerlein has struggled in all phases of the game in recent weeks and the Jets can’t afford to give up points on the field as they try to rebound from a 2-5 start.

The Jets scored on a two-yard pass from quarterback Aaron Rodgers to tight end Tyler Conklin. The score was determined by a pass interference penalty after Patriots linebacker Christian Elliss threw a deep shot to Breece Hall on third down, and cornerback Christian Gonzalez was flagged with the same penalty on an earlier third down.

Those 30 yards helped as the Jets’ offense still couldn’t make a breakthrough, so a cleaner effort for the Patriots defense could pay some dividends the rest of the afternoon.
