Social Media Scam Revealed: Gang Arrested for Blackmail and Extortion

KUWAIT CITY, October 27: The Criminal Investigation Department successfully caught a gang accused of extortion, coercion and theft. The group allegedly threatened and blackmailed victims using various methods of deception.

This operation took place upon the notice of a victim who claimed that he was deceived by someone posing as a young woman on the social media platform. After an intensive investigation, criminal investigation teams identified the suspects and received legal permission from the Public Prosecutor’s Office to continue the arrest proceedings.

When confronted, the suspects confessed to their crimes, explaining how they had deceived, threatened and extorted money from their victims. They were directed to the relevant authorities for necessary legal action.
