Princess Eugenie tipped for ‘peacemaker’ role as Prince Harry ‘clearly trusts’ her | Royal | News

Princess Eugenie could “possibly” pave the way for reconciliation talks between Prince Harry and the Royal Family because the Duke “clearly trusts” her, a royal expert has claimed.

The Duke of Sussex’s relations with some members of his family in the UK have been strained since he left the senior royal staff and moved to the US with his wife. Meghan Markle In 2020.

But the couple, who no longer have a base in the UK after being evicted from Frogmore Cottage last year, have reportedly recently bought a new holiday home in Portugal. Princess Eugenie and the estate of Jack Brookbank.

A royal expert has now suggested that Harry’s close bond with his cousin could provide a bridge to future reconciliation talks.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond said OK!: “Eugenie undoubtedly has some difficulties maintaining good relations with both Harry and Meghan and the rest of the Royal Family.

“But I think the King is happy that Harry still has at least one royal cousin he trusts, and he probably wants to see more. The family is so busy they don’t see much of each other.”

He added: “However, it is a positive thing that Charles has someone he can quietly ask about Harry’s well-being, if he is so inclined. And Harry can probably gauge the family’s mood through Eugenie.”

“Any reconciliation – which still seems unlikely at this stage – has to start somewhere and with someone. And that person could possibly be Eugenie… but don’t hold your breath.”

Ms Bond suggested the Sussex couple’s latest purchase could also benefit their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as Eugenie’s sons, August and Ernest, could help them build relationships with members of the Royal Family by playing with Brooksbank.

He explained: “I think it shows that they want their children to know at least some of their family in the UK.

“It will be good for Archie and Lilibet to spend time with their little cousins, and Eugenie will continue to be an important link between Harry and the rest of his family.

“And this is a positive move because it implies that children will not only be immersed in American culture but will have a better understanding of their European roots.”
