2 women died and 1 person was injured after being hit by a truck in Payyannur

Kannur: Two women lost their lives when they were hit by a pickup truck while crossing the road in Ramanthali panchayat Kurisumukku area of ​​Payyannur on Monday. It was stated that the dead were Yashoda (68) and Shoba (46). The other woman, Lekha, who was injured in the accident, was transferred to Government Medical College in Kannur. All were workers under the rural employment guarantee scheme. The accident occurred around 9.40 in the morning.

The police detained Babu, the driver of the truck. According to the police, the truck loaded with goods was coming downhill. Police said that the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit women crossing the street. The women were going to the construction site as part of the employment guarantee scheme.
