In protest against the gang rape of a newly married woman in Rewa district, a group of women leaders of the Madhya Pradesh Congress visited the crime scene on Monday and sprinkled ‘gangajal’ there.

Congress workers also visited the victim’s house and interacted with him in Rewa. Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari also spoke to the family members of the victim.

Jitu Patwari had formed an investigation team in which five Congress leaders were appointed. The team was tasked with gathering facts and evidence regarding the horrific incident that occurred on October 21.

The Congress targeted the BJP government, saying the Ministry of External Affairs has collapsed.

“We sprinkled gangajal at the place where the woman was gang-raped. This is part of our protest against the incident,” MP Congress general secretary Kavita Pandey told IANS.

In particular, the police said that the 19-year-old newlywed woman was gang-raped by a group of men while she and her husband were having a picnic near a temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district.

terrible event The incident took place on October 21 when the couple went for a picnic in the Gurh police station area, about two kilometers away from a famous temple. It was claimed that many young people aged between 19 and 22 raped the woman and beat her husband.

Rewa SP said police have nabbed all the seven accused in the case “When the incident came to our attention, we approached the couple and advised them to report the crime,” he said.

The SP said the men went to bathe and party in the pond near the temple and also got drunk. He further added that the case was registered under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) Sections 296, 127(2), 115, 351(3), 70(1), 79 and 3(5).
