Sheffield pub’s license canceled within a year of opening

After detailing the breaches, numerous visits and the advice and support given, a South Yorkshire Police officer asked councilors to revoke the building’s licence.

During Monday’s meeting, members also heard the building did not have planning permission as a late-night venue.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the licensee apologized for the late playing of music in some cases and admitted that there had been problems in this regard.

He urged committee members to note the developments that were taking place, although he also acknowledged that there were “challenges” and “shortcomings”.

Following a complaint about a person smoking marijuana near the facility, the license holder said the business does not support smoking in any way.

He concluded by asking committee members to keep the building open for community use, adding that he was even willing to resign if necessary to ensure the business could remain open.

Asked why the committee should trust him to hand over the license to someone else to run the business when he had clearly misled authorities before, he told councilors everyone deserved a “chance”.

However, the committee decided to cancel the bar’s license.
