Authorities said that four Indian citizens died and one person was injured when the car they were traveling in crashed and burst into flames in Ontario, Canada.

The crash occurred Thursday of last week in the Lake Shore Boulevard East and Cherry Street area of ​​the City of Toronto, police said in a press release.

The press release stated that five people, aged between 25 and 32, were traveling in a Tesla when they “lost control and crashed first into the railings and then into the concrete column” and then burst into flames.

“We have gathered some evidence so far that suggests speed is a factor,” Toronto Police Officer Inspector Phillip Sinclair told the Toronto Sun newspaper.

In the press release, police officials who responded to the accident stated that four of the people in the vehicle died at the scene. The fifth person, a 25-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

He was rescued by a driver who stopped to help, according to the report.

“We extend our sincere condolences regarding the tragic loss of Indian nationals in the road accident that occurred in Toronto yesterday,” the official official of the Indian Consulate in Toronto said in a post published on X.

The post also stated that the consulate is in regular contact with local authorities and affected families in Canada and India. The statement said, “All necessary assistance is being provided.”

Police asked residents and drivers who have dashcam footage or witnessed the incident to contact investigators.
