Stolen Cocker Spaniel puppies rescued

Four puppies stolen Sunday night were recovered by police.

The seven-week-old cocker spaniels were kidnapped during a burglary in Kelloe, leaving their mother Freckles heartbroken, Durham Police said.

Officers have now found four of the puppies being cared for at Bishop Auckland police station. One is still missing.

A man and a woman were arrested and detained in connection with the theft.

Police said the puppies were recently weaned from their mother, who was on the property at the time of the burglary.
