Menendez brothers’ case sent to Van Nuys courthouse – NBC Los Angeles

Los Angeles County prosecutors’ request to reduce the prison sentences for brothers Erik and Lyle Menendez, who were sentenced to life imprisonment without parole for killing their parents with a shotgun blast at the family’s home in Beverly Hills in 1989, will be discussed in Van. Nuys Courthouse.

The case was assigned to Van Nuys on Friday by the chief of the court’s criminal division, and on Monday morning, the case was assigned again to Superior Court Judge Michael Jesic without being heard in open court.

According to court staff present at the hearing, a schedule for submitting documents and holding hearings has not yet been determined.

Last week, District Attorney George Gascon announced that he would request that the brothers be sentenced to 50 years to life in prison, citing their good behavior in prison, which would allow them to receive an immediate parole hearing and possibly be released.
