Montpelier police arrest teen after burglary and assault on Main St.

MONTPELIER — Following a reported disturbance on Oct. 26 at approximately 5:48 p.m., the Montpelier Police Department arrested a juvenile in connection with a burglary and subsequent assault on Main Street.

Officers at 34 Main St. responded to multiple calls about a chaotic incident near the area involving multiple people, some of whom were intoxicated children.

The investigation revealed that the youths were found at 64 Main St. It was revealed that they burglarized a property at . A short time later, a fight broke out between the teens and an adult outside 34 Main St.

During the police investigation, a teenager attacked an adult woman by punching her in the face.

The attacker was captured and faces charges of burglary and theft by a person, as well as charges of simple assault, unlawful mischief and underage drinking.

While in custody, the boy damaged a police cruiser by repeatedly kicking it.

Additional charges are expected to arise as the investigation continues.

Detective Alesha Donovan stated that no further details were available at this time.
