Students expelled from Gold Coast private school over ‘rape list’

A “small number of students” from a private school on the Gold Coast have been expelled following reports of a “rape list” of female classmates. 

Emmanuel College in Carrara was alerted to the issue about two weeks ago and today said some of its students were displaying “online behavior that included offensive and inappropriate comments about female students”.

Students from at least two local schools were also found to be involved.

“This behavior was not consistent with our values ​​as a caring Christian community that places a high priority on safety and respect,” Emmanuel College said in a statement. he said.

“Our investigation found that a small number of students are no longer enrolled at Emmanuel College.”

Emmanuel College consequently met with the Year 10 group to set expectations.

Students were offered support, counseling and pastoral care, and parents and guardians were informed of the situation.

Emmanuel College said the incident forced them to strengthen their efforts to educate students about appropriate behavior.

The school said: “It is disheartening that this behavior still persists in our society and we are appalled that a small minority of boys find it acceptable to view girls in this way.” he said.

“We are committed to fostering a culture of respect, responsibility and support at Emmanuel College.”
