TNT guard Rey Nambatac avoids Mikey Williams comparisons

REY Nambatac is far from being Mikey Williams.

TNT The guard has emphasized this point during comparisons to the Fil-Am player since he boarded the Tropang Giga at the start of the season. PBA Season 49, now they’re competing for even more Governors’ Cup championship.

Nambatac, 30, said there is only one Mikey Williams and no one else is following him.

Williams, the former Rookie of the Year, played a key role in TNT’s last two championships (2021 Philippine Cup and 2023 Governors’ Cup), both of which were named Finals MVP.

With Nambatac taking over the position vacated by 33-year-old Williams, the comparison is naturally inevitable.

But for Letran’s product, Fil-Am artillery is irreplaceable.

“There is one more role according to TNT, at least 50 percent according to Mikey, he is better than the team,” Nambatac said, “Yung another 50, he has been going for a very long time. Yun talaga and role ko. ”

So far, Nambatac and the rest of the Tropang Giga are doing well in the post-Williams era, and in fact, they drew first blood in their series of seven Governors’ Cup championships with a thrilling 104-88 victory over Barangay Ginebra. Game 1.
