Authorities in Florida claim to have caught a man trying to rape a woman in an open field after he reported calling 911 while pretending to order a pizza.

The 911 center at the Volusia Sheriff’s Office received a call in the early morning hours of Saturday, Oct. 19, from a woman pretending to order pizza and making veiled insinuations that an attacker was with her, the sheriff’s office said in a statement. expression last week.

Investigators released a recording of the 911 call and body camera footage of the officer who arrived at the scene to rescue the woman.

When the 911 dispatcher answers the call, the woman says: “I want to order pizza. “I’m so stuck here.”

The dispatcher checks to see if she is aware that she is calling 911.

“Yes, I’m sure I called that number,” the woman says in the recording. (In the version of the recording released by the police, the woman’s voice has been changed to protect her identity.)

When asked, he could not give an address and said, “I am stranded here. It won’t take me back home.”

The dispatcher continues to ask her questions while the woman remains on the line, pretending to order an extra cheese pepperoni pizza. During the conversation, he tells the officer that he was injured.

The dispatcher keeps him on the line while officers are dispatched to the scene.

Bodycam footage shows officers approaching the suspect in an open field while he was “on top of him” and the alleged victim continued to scream for help.

Hernandez-Moncayo is charged with attempted sexual battery, battery by strangulation and false imprisonment, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.

Hernandez-Moncayo, who police allege is undocumented, is also facing an immigration detention officer from the U.S. Border Patrol, who is requesting that the detainee be held for 48 hours after his release so immigration services can evaluate next steps with the person. .

It was not immediately clear whether he entered a plea or retained an attorney to speak on his behalf.
