3 Wide Receivers the Texans Should Target for the Season with Stefon Diggs

Houston Texans make one of the biggest blockbuster trades of 2024 NFL The offseason secured wide receiver Stefon Diggs from the Buffalo Bills. Diggs would be the team’s starting receiver, as he was when he played for the team.

Diggs rushed for 496 yards and three touchdowns on 47 receptions through seven games. Texans quarterback CJ Stroud and Diggs combined for many explosive plays, and he was an asset that helped take the offense to new heights.

Unfortunately, that connection has now been broken as Diggs turned out to have a torn ACL. The star receiver will now be sidelined for the remainder of the 2024 season.

Even worse for Diggs, he may not be able to sign a lucrative contract in 2025 due to him being set to become a free agent and suffering an injury of this magnitude at his age.

Texans are now back in a place where they need widespread assistance. Currently, the team has Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson, Robert Woods, John Metchie III and Steven Sims as healthy units.

Nico Collins remains on IR with a hamstring injury but is scheduled to return around Nov. 10 when the Texans face the Detroit Lions.

The Texans need wide receiver help and NFL The trade deadline is fast approaching. Once time reaches 4pm EST on November 5th, no deals will be allowed for the remainder of the season. Houston would do well to try to land the receiver before time runs out.

There are three options for Texans to consider:

1. Mike Williams, New York Jets

It is known that the New York Jets are trying to trade Mike Williams. The former deep threat for the Los Angeles Chargers tore his ACL in 2023 and eventually found his way back to restart. But the Jets have a stacked receiver room.

Williams will face Alan Lazard, Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams, as well as Tyler Conklin. With the Jets focusing on pass catchers, Williams has fallen down the depth chart and in terms of production.

Williams was a solid threat before his injury and could become a threat again with Stroud passing the ball.

2. Darius Slayton, New York Giants

This is a bit of a long shot considering Darius Slayton has been great so far with the New York Giants. He rushed for 420 yards and a touchdown on 29 receptions, averaging 14.5 yards per catch.

Slayton is the Giants’ starter, but the team is currently 2-6 on the season and could focus more on the future. If there was ever a time to trade Slayton, it’s now. He could have a huge upside in terms of trade value, and the Texans better call on the Giants.

3. Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams

This is another long shot, but not as long shot as the Slayon trade. A week before the Los Angeles Rams stunned the Minnesota Vikings, there were many rumors and reports about Cooper Kupp being traded.

The Rams are in a 3-4 situation and are less likely to want to trade a star for a chance at draft capital, especially if they believe they can turn things around. However, they have reportedly already called out Kupp.

The Texans might have to offer something with a second-round pick, but adding Kupp to the offense alongside Stroud would be magical.
