Father’s bizarre excuse for raping child found guilty | News Extra

A 54-year-old man from southern Trinidad was found guilty of incest after twice raping his 14-year-old daughter in 2007.

Prosecutors said the man, who admitted to raping the girl’s mother, told her when he confronted his wife that he had taken the child instead.

This was because his mother left him a month ago after he was physically attacked.

On Tuesday, after a judge-only hearing, Judge Kathy Ann Waterman-Latchoo found the man guilty of both crimes and also found guilty of aggravated sexual assault of the girl.

He was taken into custody and will be sentenced on December 4.

The evidence in the case was that on the night of May 12, 2007, the girl was sleeping in a shared bed with her younger sister when their father entered the bedroom.

He then took off the girl’s clothes and raped her.

Prosecutors Dylan Martin and Niara Boodan alleged that the next day, while the man was watching a pornographic movie, he called the girl into the room, held her hand and asked her to have sex again.

Prosecutors said the woman refused, removed her hand and left the house.

However, that same night, he went back to her bedroom and forced her to perform oral sex on him. He asked the girl for sexual intercourse but she refused, slapped him across the face and went to bed.

Prosecutors said the girl was still in her room on the night of May 19 when the man entered the room and raped her. As he did so, the phone rang, stopping the attack.

The girl eventually told her mother what had happened, and the woman confronted her husband.

He admitted that he raped his daughter, but stated that he gave his child instead.

A police report was later filed. After a medical examination, doctors found that the hymen was missing.

When police went to the man’s home to arrest him, he tried to escape but was restrained by officers before being charged.
