CAMBRIDGE, MD. — A 28-year-old man was arrested Oct. 17 after police responded to reports that a small cat was being mistreated. Cambridge Police were dispatched to the area of ​​Academy Street and Cedar Street around 1:50 p.m. after receiving a report of a male subject throwing a cat at traffic signals.

Police officers arrived at the scene and found the injured cat, which was later taken to the veterinarian for treatment and diagnosed with a pelvic injury. The male suspect, identified as Lamar Marcus Smith, was arrested and charged with two counts of animal cruelty. He was later held without bail at the Dorchester County Correctional Facility.
